Namisen (波線) is a young artist from the new wave of Japanese modern art. Hailing from the outskirts of Osaka, she holds the title of Shihan (師範), the highest rank in Japanese calligraphy, Shodou (書道). After studying at the Nagoya School of Fine Arts and being influenced by Ernst Kolb, she developed a unique style, creating intricate, layered lines that form shadow-and-light portraits. Her subjects include characters from anime, manga, films, and American icons.
Discovered by Mind The Gap in Tokyo in 2019, she has been working exclusively with them since 2022. Notably, she collaborated with the famous Swiss watchmaker, Corum, on the Bubble x Aiiroh collection.
